Transparency about how we collect, verify, and present the data that powers Thailand Path.
We combine multiple data sources to build accurate cost profiles for each city:
Our team of expats living in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket conduct regular price checks at local markets, supermarkets, restaurants, and service providers. We verify rent prices by reviewing current listings on Thai property platforms and speaking with local agents.
We reference official data from the National Statistical Office of Thailand, the Bank of Thailand, the Ministry of Commerce, and the Immigration Bureau for visa fees and requirements.
We aggregate cost reports from hundreds of expats and digital nomads across Thai cities, cross-referencing self-reported data to identify outliers and verify accuracy.
Property rental data is sourced from Thai listing platforms including DDproperty, FazWaz, and RentHub. We use median prices, not averages, to avoid skew from luxury listings.
Each city profile includes three budget tiers:
Shared accommodation or basic studio, local Thai food, public transport, minimal entertainment. Represents the minimum comfortable lifestyle for a single person.
Private one-bedroom apartment in a good neighborhood, mix of local and international dining, gym membership, regular social activities, occasional domestic travel.
Modern condominium in a premium area, international dining, private transport, comprehensive health insurance, regular entertainment and travel.
Cost data is reviewed and updated quarterly. Visa requirements and fees are updated within 48 hours of any official Thai government announcement. City infrastructure data (internet speeds, healthcare quality) is verified biannually.
While we strive for accuracy, our data has some limitations:
