Mae Sot sits on the Thai-Myanmar border 86km west of Tak. The Myawaddy-Mae Sot Friendship Bridge provides the main crossing point (shuttle bus 20 THB). Buses run to Bangkok (6-7 hours), Chiang Mai (4 hours), and Tak (1.5 hours). No airport -- the nearest is Tak or Chiang Mai. Motorbike rental (2,000-2,500 THB/month) provides access to the surrounding mountains and border area. Songthaews serve the city and connect to the border market.
